Nim, Robbert Doelwijt Jr. (1992), is a self-taught independent film artist and director based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He communicates his expression through stylized character driven stories.

From an early age Robbert has been drawn to the film medium. At age 15 his short film ‘i-D: Identity’ was selected to participate in Stranger Festival film festival, introducing him to the international world of film and expression. Professionally, Robbert developed his directing skills in the commercial ad space focusing on fashion films, non-profits and innovation.

At the same time, he continued to develop his artistic voice directing documentary pieces in the arts and cultural space. In 2021, Robbert received the Young Directors lamp at the Dutch Creativity Awards for his commissioned piece ‘Uitgelicht’ and ‘Royal’ music video.

In 2022, Robbert made his fiction directorial debut with ‘Kofi’s Tori’, the first Dutch children’s series about slavery in Suriname, which premiered at CineKid Festival.

Most recently, in 2023, Robbert completed an artist residency in Tokyo, Japan. There, he experimented with the analog viewing experience of film. This culminated into his first solo-exhibition titled ‘Remembering myself’ on view in Tokyo.
